Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced House Supervisor (RN) to join our team! This is a PRN night shift position working 1-2 shifts per week, or as needed. In the absence of the Senior Managers and Department Directors, the House Supervisor is responsible and accountable for directing and facilitating the flow of patient care activities of the facility on an assigned shift. Located minutes from downtown Austin, Cedar Park Regional Medical Center is a level IV Designated Trauma Center with more than 600 healthcare professionals working together to provide inpatient, outpatient, surgical and emergency care for Cedar Park and the greater Austin region.Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced House Supervisor (RN) to join our team! This is a PRN night shift position working 1-2 shifts per week, or as needed. In the absence of the Senior Managers and Department Directors, the House Supervisor is responsible and accountable for directing and facilitating the flow of patient care activities of the facility on an assigned shift.ResponsibilitiesPrioritizes all admissions and transfers for bed placement through appropriate triage of patients. Consults with Case Management when needed to ascertain appropriate statusWorks with admitting staff to assign beds for scheduled and unscheduled admissions according to the services and level of care required, infection control or any other special patient care needsCoordinates all inter and intra-facility patient transfers. Ensures compliances with EMTALA regulationsConducts rounds every 1 to 2 hours on all units to identify open beds and capacity statusAppropriately staffs nursing units according to staffing guidelines and patient acuity levels. Maintains knowledge of staffing needs during shift and makes adjustments to meet patient care needsCollaborates with the Department Directors to prospectively staff units for the next shift and the subsequent 24 hoursAdministratively responsible for the facility in the absence of the Senior Managers and Department DirectorsDemonstrates effective, collaborative communication and conflict resolution skills. Utilizes Chain of Command when warrantedProvides customer focused solutions demonstrating appropriate follow through with staff, physicians, patients, families and visitors. Serves as a resource for media and public relations calls, consulting Director of Marketing when necessaryGathers and evaluates facts. Identifies and resolves problems applying appropriate policies and procedures. Notifies appropriate persons such as Risk Manager and Administrator on call for immediate concernsCoaches, counsels and performs appropriate staff disciplinary action to meet the expectations of quality patient care and professional behavior in a timely mannerInvestigates and responds to patient grievances in a timely manner per facility policy. Attempts to handle patient/family issues before they progress to a grievance statusEstablishes an environment conducive to providing excellent learning opportunities for student nurses from area nursing schoolsResponds to all codes and acts as a resource to staff, physicians, family members, visitors and clergyServes as a clinical resource to staff, utilizing appropriate, available resources to assist when neededObtains medications after pharmacy hours only in emergency situations per policy utilizing the night cabinetOther duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited RN program. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferredCurrent license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Texas, or license with a compact state required upon hireAmerican Heart Association (AHA) approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
