Located minutes from downtown Austin, Cedar Park Regional Medical Center is a level IV Designated Trauma Center with more than 700 healthcare professionals working together to provide inpatient, outpatient, surgical and emergency care for Cedar Park and the greater Austin region.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for a Stroke Coordinator position.

Responsibilities

* Coordinates the clinical aspects of the Stroke Program and its accreditation, and leads the Nursing teams that provide immediate care to patients who suffer sudden onset or progression of symptoms of stroke.
* Acts as a liaison to the community for the Stroke Center by providing and organizing education awareness of signs and symptoms of stroke, current medical treatments, risk factors, preventions and rehabilitation services.
* Develops educational programs for nurses, clinical staff, physicians, and EMS aimed at Stroke Awareness and Intervention.
* Facilitates physician collaboration and utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to Stroke care to improve patient outcomes in a cost effective manner.
* Participates in the collection and monitoring of data for quality improvement of patient care.
* Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period.
* Provides leadership for the Emergency Department, Inpatient telemetry, Observation Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Radiology Department, Laboratory Department, and other entities within the Neurology service line related to best practice for patients.
* Assists in the planning, development and implementation of program goals and operations for the Stroke Program.
* Monitors the ongoing CQI process to improve care of the stroke patient population and collaborates with the Quality Department.

Qualifications

* Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited RN program. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
* Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Texas, or license with a compact state required upon hire
* American Heart Association (AHA) approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
* Prefer experience in coding, quality and/or performance improvement activities preferred
