Qualifications Utilized the nursing process, initiates assessment,
plans the care of patients with ostomy, draining wounds, fistulas,
pressure sores, and incontinence. Assesses all new ostomy patients
for knowledge level/deficit skill level and self-care potential.
Performs stoma sitting, initiate’s ostomy and other wound care
areas in plans of care; assures adequate discharge planning and
follow-up care. Assists nursing staff with decision making in
clinical situations related to wound and stoma care. Works with
nursing staff and physicians to develop and equipment for patients
with ostomy, draining wounds, fistulas, pressure sores, and
incontinence. Evaluates, selects and recommends supplies and
equipment for patients with ostomy, draining wounds, fistulas,
pressure sores, and incontinence. Evaluates and approves patients
for appropriate pressure reducing mattresses in a timely and
cost-effective manner. What qualifications you will need: Basic
Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment
start date (CWOCN) Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (RN)
