SUMMARY

Firefly Mission Design Engineers leverage their technical expertise to design and execute orbital launch missions. You will work alongside the Firefly GN&C team in a small, collaborative group in carrying out Firefly missions from initial inception to day-of-launch operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Optimize and design flight profiles for Firefly launch vehicles to satisfy a range of mission requirements
  • Perform trajectory analysis and present results to Firefly engineers and customers
  • Support testing in advance of missions and day-of-launch console operations
  • Generate payload performance estimates for Firefly launch vehicles
  • Advance the state-of-the-art of Firefly simulation and trajectory analysis capabilities
  • Perform trajectory analysis and generate documentation in support of Firefly launch licensing
  • Create software-based tools to automate analysis and testing task

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or physics
  • 4+ years of experience performing trajectory or mission design for aerospace systems
  • Strong understanding of first principals in dynamics, orbital mechanics, control systems, and estimation
  • Experience with software development in C/C++ and Python

Desired:

  • Masters degree in engineering or physics
  • Familiarity using Git version control and working in a Linux operating system
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Capability to operate in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
