SUMMARY

Firefly Propulsion Development Engineers support the development of Fireflys rocket engines, which power our disruptive launch vehicles. You will have a meaningful role in all aspects of engineering development from conceptual design through flight testing. Propulsion Development Engineers work with Responsible Engineers to guide designers and analysts to create components that meet requirements. Parts are fabricated through coordination by the Propulsion and Manufacturing teams. Firefly Propulsion Engineers and Test Engineers work together to test fully integrated engines at Fireflys state of the art rocket test site.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Serve as Propulsion Development Engineer supporting the entire engine or major engine subsystems, with responsibility to deliver complete propulsion systems according to launch vehicle program needs * Create analytical models to predict engine performance and operating characteristics * Create conceptual designs of engines and components * Work with Firefly Design and Analysis Engineers to mature conceptual designs and create engineering definition of engine and component designs which meet vehicle requirements * Work with Firefly Manufacturing and Test Engineers to fabricate and test propulsion systems and validate that systems meet launch vehicle requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

* BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline * Exceptional comprehension of engineering fundamentals: fluid mechanics, heat transfer, structural analysis, materials and processes * Strong understanding of rocket propulsion fundamentals: combustion devices, turbomachinery, rocket engine cycles * Skill in creating analytical/numerical models of engineering devices and processes * Demonstrated interest in advancing New Space * Must be a U.S. person as defined by the ITAR

* 0-3 years of experience in a related role * Test experience * Demonstrated ability to work well in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment * Organizational skills to prioritize, execute, and track tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment * Self-motivated individual requiring minimal direction * Ability to creatively develop economical solutions

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
