The Position

The City of Cedar Park is seeking qualified candidatesfor the position of Inspector I or Inspector II.

  • Makes onsite inspections during all phases of construction to ensure compliance with various codes, including those published by the International Code Council (ICC) and the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA);
  • Maintains computer records and reports concerning inspections, licenses, permits, certificates, etc.;
  • Consults with engineers, architects, builders, and contractors to discuss plans and compliance with various codes;
  • Investigates complaints of unsafe, uninhabited, and unsanitary structures;
  • Answers questions in person, on telephone and via email regarding zoning, building ordinance compliance, and citizens' complaints; and
  • Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

Acceptable Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses

INSPECTOR I

High School Diploma, or its equivalent, plus at least one (1) year of experience in building inspections or the construction field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Plumbing Inspector License issued by the State Board of Plumbing Examiners, or the ability to obtain same within a period not to exceed one (1) year from date of hire.

INSPECTOR II

High School Diploma, or its equivalent, plus at least three (3) to five (5) years of experience in building inspections or the construction field;or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Plumbing Inspector License issued by the State Board of Plumbing Examiners, required.

Preferred certifications include: Residential Inspector Certification, Commercial Inspector Certification, Energy Inspector Certification, Residential Mechanical Certification, Residential Plumbing Certification, Residential Electrical Certification, Commercial Mechanical Certification, Commercial Plumbing Certification, and Commercial Electrical Certification.

Supplemental Information

Must have a valid Texas Driver's License, with acceptable driving record.

INSPECTOR I Salary Range = $20.53 to $25.03 per hour

INSPECTOR II Salary Range = $22.63 to $27.60 per hour
