good.Position SummaryThe Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is
responsible for the overall administration of the academic programs
of the University of Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry (
RSO ). This position provides leadership and strategic oversight of
academic policies, drives curriculum design, and assesses its
outcomes to ensure they are aligned with institutional goals. The
Associate Dean for Academic Affairs reports to the Dean, Rosenberg

DutiesJob Duty NameDescription of Job Duty
- Lead the implementation and assessment of academic policies and
outcomes.
- Lead curriculum development of academic and clinical programs
and ensure alignment with institutional policy and goals; oversee
course design, course content validation, and scheduling.
- Support the recruitment, retention, and development of faculty
to promote a culture of collegiality.
- Oversee residency and externship programs.
- Provide oversight of UIWSRO budgetary requests and daily budget
review.
- Collaborate with the Dean and other leaders in meeting program
accreditation standards.
- Represent UIWRSO in regional, state, and national
conferences.
- Support student recruitment initiatives.
- Serve on the UIWRSO Executive Leadership Council and advise the
Dean.
- Teaching duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsKnowledge Skills
and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of optometry curriculum, accreditation
standards, and clinical training requirements.
- Familiarity with institutional policies, academic governance,
and compliance with regulations.
- Strong knowledge of research methodologies and trends in
optometric science.
- Proficiency in ability to develop and execute long-term
academic strategies
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, or similar
systems.
- Strong communication skills, verbal, written, and
interpersonal.
- Excellent ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in
a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse
communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations
of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA .Required
EducationDoctor of Optometry (OD) degree.Required Work Experience
- Ten (10) years of relevant experience to include
post-graduation experience or in an administrative position in a
School or College of Optometry.
- Five (5) years of supervisory experience.Preferred
Qualifications
- Teaching experience in a School or College of Optometry.
- Clinical training experience.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and assessing academic
programs and curricula to align with and meet accreditation
standards.Required Certifications, Licenses or RegistrationsMust be
eligible for licensure as an Optometrist in the State of Texas and
obtain this license within 6 months of assuming the position.Work
HoursMonday through Friday, sometime evenings or weekends depending
on school responsibilities.Physical Demands
- Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of
time.
- Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to
actively engage faculty, staff, and potential/current students, as
